Veneers
Some cosmetic issues with teeth can be fixed with veneers. These shells are custom-made to fit over the front of the teeth. They are tooth-coloured and match perfectly with your other teeth. As they are so thin, we only need to remove a small amount of enamel, if any at all. Veneers can be made from ceramic, porcelain or a composite material.
Treatment steps
- If we have to, we will first remove a tiny layer of enamel is removed from the surface of the tooth to accommodate the veneer.
- Once the tooth has been prepared, we’ll take an impression of the teeth so we can craft a veneers that has a perfect fit.
- As appearances matter, we also note the colour of your teeth so the veneer blends in.
- Once we get the veneer back from the lab, we invite you back for your fitting. Using a strong dental adhesive, we fix the veneer to the tooth.
Veneers are tough restorations but they can be damaged if not treated with care. Cut up hard foods before eating and do not open anything with your teeth, such as crisp packets or bottles, and avoid biting your nails or chewing pencils. In addition to these precautions, make sure you practice good oral hygiene and see your dentist regularly.
